  • Mission Statement: Young Life communities seek to initiate positive mentoring relationships between Christian adult leaders and all teens, both Christian and unchurched, developing a deep sense of value and belonging while creating opportunities to share the hope of Christ and space to consider and wrestle with questions of life and faith in Jesus.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Lead and facilitate weekly Club for Junior High students including planning, execution, and evaluation

    • Conduct weekly leader meetings to provide spiritual growth training and ministry development

    • Working together with your volunteers to create an active approach to consistent weekly Contact work (i.e. volunteering at sporting events, lunch supervision, lunchtime intra-murals, tutoring etc.) within your junior high schools

    • Host and lead weekly bible study (Campaigners) for local teens

    • Attend leader planning day in Sept & Leader/Staff Retreat in November

    • Serve teens seeking camping adventures (simultaneously helping to create and facilitate fundraising opportunities, in addition to personally taking them on the journey)

    • Maintain active communication with parents, community, and church networks

    • Praying for your team and the teenagers involved in your weekly Club

    • Manage administrative tasks including expense reports, promotional materials, and social media

    • Frequent communications with parents and the community, networking within churches, maintaining our weekly club tracker

    • Meet weekly with Area Director and participate in regional staff meetings

    • Sharing of raising funds - garnering approximately $200 in monthly donations/or $2400 annually

    • Responsible to host 1-2 tables at annual area fundraiser(s)

    Qualifications:

    • Active involvement in a local church

    • Dynamic Christian faith and a passion to share Jesus with others

    • Experience leading a youth ministry, with a growing ability to manage a team of volunteers

    • Capacity to develop relationships between Young Life and local churches and para-church organizations

    • Personal and Spiritual maturity

    • Professionalism in organizational skills and integrity with finances

    • Complete Young Life Leader Training

    • Commitment to Young Life Standards of Conduct, Plan to Protect, and Sexual Conduct Policies

    • Maintain a culture of honour, upholding our mission, core values and beliefs

    • Post Secondary Education in Christian Ministry or related fields (education, social services) is helpful.

    Hours & Terms:

    • Geography/Area: Parkland (Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Area) 

    • Proposed Start Date: Position Available Immediately 

    • Hours: Part-Time (10 - 15 hours)  including evenings and weekends. These hours would primarily be split between multiple local locations within the community doing Contact Work at junior high schools within the Parkland region, Club nights and leader meetings facilitated within your home or the home of local staff or committee members.

    • Ministry Type: Junior High Students 

    • Salary: $19 - $22 per hour pending experience

    • Transportation: You will be expected to have a vehicle and transport teens on a regular basis. Valid driver's license and personal vehicle, Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract

    Notes:

    • The position is located in a commuter town 15 minutes West of Edmonton. You will be working in an area office or in a home office.

    Day Range:
    Monday to Friday
    Weekends as needed

  • *Please note: Staff Associate is a mandatory 2-year term which must be completed before being considered for a full-time Area Director role. The option also exists to continue with Young Life as a Staff Representative after your 2-year term.

    As part of your role over the course of this 2-year commitment, you will be required to develop your own donor base through fundraising.

    Mission Statement: We have a unique opportunity for someone looking for a ministry position with the passion to be a mentor to youth in our local community.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Recruit, train and lead a team of volunteer leaders.

    • Build an effective new Young Life ministry centred around a school (junior high focus) or neighbourhood, supported by a local committee and supervisor.

    • Working together with your volunteers to create an active approach to consistent weekly Contact work (i.e. volunteering at sporting events, lunch supervision, lunchtime intra-murals, tutoring etc.) within your junior high schools. This will be the basis of the thriving club you are working to build.

    • Take kids to camp.

    • Form a campaigner group
      (student discipleship team).

    • Build relationships with teenagers, presenting the gospel of Jesus through an incarnation approach, discipling students who desire to follow Christ. Teenagers will hear the gospel in terms they can understand from someone who cares for them personally.

    • Maintain active communication with parents, community, and church networks

    • Praying for your team and the teenagers involved in your weekly Club

    • Manage administrative tasks including expense reports, promotional materials, and social media

    • Hours: Part-Time, permanent (minimum 21 hours/week)  including evenings and weekends. These hours would primarily be split between multiple local locations within the community doing Contact Work at junior high schools within the Parkland region, Club nights and leader meetings facilitated within your home or the home of local staff or committee members.

    • Ministry Type: Junior High or High School Students

    • Salary: $19 – $22 per hour pending experience

    • Transportation: You will be expected to have a vehicle and transport teens on a regular basis. Valid driver's license and personal vehicle, Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract.

  • This position provides administrative support, enabling the Young Life field ministry area office to function in an organized and efficient manner.


    Responsibilities:

    • Written and verbal communication skills.

    • Answer correspondence.

    • Respond to phone calls, voicemails, and email in a timely and professional manner.

    • Managing MailChimp email campaigns (including gathering articles and pictures, creating layouts, etc.)

    • Create club/event postcards, flyers and/or maps utilizing Canva.

    • Maintain the area's Squarespace website.

    • Send thank-you letters to donors.

    • Interact with area staff, committee and volunteers.

      • Weekly action items

      • Dates to keep on radar

      • Quarterly thank you’s

      • Birthday & holiday cards/gift etc.

    • Administration of processing and tracking donations.

    • Maintain donor and leader databases.

    • Manage area camp trips.

    • Manage monthly expenses and budgets.

    • Accounting: Pay bills, submit purchase card expenses and area donations.

    • Event Administration & Support

    • Assist in coordinating area leadership meetings, committee meetings, and staff meetings.

    • Taking minutes at the monthly committee meeting.

    • Area Banquet/Golf Tournament/Silent Auction: Create invites, track guest list, sponsor requests + coordinate sponsors, and mail invites and thank-you notes. Participation in the execution of the event. 

    Qualifications:

    • High school education or its equivalent.

    • Associate's degree preferred.

    • Ongoing education encouraged.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Proficiency using Canva, MailChimp and Trello.

    • Familiarity with social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    • Great customer service skills.

    • Proven relational skills.

    Hours & Terms:

    • Geography/Area: Parkland (Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Area) 

    • Proposed Start Date: Position Available Immediately 

    • Hours: Part-Time (5-10 hours/week)  with occasional evenings and weekends.

    • Salary: $19 - $21 per hour pending experience

    • Transportation: You will be expected to have a vehicle as well as a valid driver's license, Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract.

    Day Range: Work can be done at your pace provided it meets given deadlines (some weekend hours may be required).

    Work Location: Hybrid (some in person work will be required).
